The Early Years Foundation Stage British Nursery (EYFS) Curriculum framework supports an integrated approach to early learning and care. All our professionals share a set of common principles and commitments to deliver quality early education and childcare experiences to all children. As well as providing the core areas and learning outcomes for all professionals working in the foundation years, the EYFS framework gives mums and dads confidence that they can be assured that statutory commitments and principles will underpin your child’s learning and development experience.

Snowdrops – Babies
We have a dedicated baby unit, run by a qualified Early Years Teacher, a DHA registered Paediatric Nurse and a permanent Nursery Assistant who are all dedicated to ensuring that your baby receives constant loving care. Our staff have vast knowledge of working with babies and are sensitive to their individual needs. They very much enjoy assisting your baby to flourish in their new home-from-home environment. When a baby starts at the nursery we endeavour to maintain the routine that parents have already started and then gradually introduce social and physical development through sensory play. This is achieved by providing the babies with a range of activities that stimulates their emotional and physical development. Our early years’ childcare staff, are ready to help fulfil all your baby’s needs and encourage each stage of their development, such as weaning and walking.
Daisies – Early Toddler
Young toddlers are little scientists. They have a strong exploratory impulse and are eager to figure out how everything works. This makes the second year an exciting one, as children really begin to venture out into the world to explore, discover, and learn. One of the things that make this year so much fun is that toddlers are becoming more and more effective at communicating. We encourage this by reading lots of stories and singing nursery rhymes. This is the time when children often develop a favourite story they want to hear over and over. By the end of their second year, they will be making simple sentences, like “more milk” or “want that”. Your child will also be able to identify body parts and point to different animals making appropriate noises.
Tulips – Older Toddler
Our Tulips class is the time for your child to become more independent and confident in their surroundings. Young children can quickly become bored at this stage so the staff are trained in keeping your child’s interest in various activities such as sand, water, play-dough, dressing up and role play. Your child will be introduced to colours, shapes, sorting and counting, which develops physical and intellectual skills. The children also enjoy group activities including singing, dancing and acting out action rhymes. Children are encouraged to interact and share with other children and are given help in developing their social skills. The staff are ready to help fulfil all your child’s needs and encourage each stage of their development, such as potty training and feeding themselves.
Daffodils – Pre-FS
So much is happening as your child begins their third year! In our Daffodils class, your child will be forming new friendships and starting to become more independent. Children become capable of doing lots of things for themselves, like learning to put a jacket on or help with tasks like setting the table and tidying up their toys. Language development also soars at this age, as children are using words to express their thoughts and feelings. In the third year, you will see a big jump in your child’s thinking skills, as we develop simple concepts such as opposites and time. Your child will start to talk about their past experiences and ask questions about their familiar world. We will encourage creativity and problem-solving skills as they play and interact with others. Your child will also learn more self-control and coping skills and start to adapt their behaviour to different social situations.
Sunflowers – FS1
In our Sunflowers class, activities are centred around the children’s interests with the focus being on encouraging the children to interact and develop their social and personal skills. The greatest changes noted by parents are in the rapid development of knowledge and abilities as children learn through play. Days are built around varied activities allowing children to learn through discussion and exploration. Children at pre-school stage form school-type friendships, parents often notice that the conversation on the way home from nursery revolves around what their child and a few friends did together. Children leaving Baby Home Nursery are well equipped to take on the curriculum at primary school and more often than not, are more advanced than what is actually required by the school.
